MARKET CONTEXT
MARKET CONTEXT
The suspension arm has an elongated shape. It is connected to the chassis by a silentbloc and, if fitted to the vehicle, an anti-roll bar. It is connected to the wheel knuckle by a ball joint.
The wishbone consists of two mounting points on the chassis side (silentblocs) and one mounting point on the wheel hub side (suspension ball joint ).
The wishbones and arms are made of several materials: Cast iron, pressed steel or aluminium.
CONDITIONS OF REPLACEMENT
CONDITIONS OF REPLACEMENT
The wishbone or suspension arm performs a vital safety role. A component linking the vehicle to the ground, it determines and ensures the vehicle's road holding. It must be paid careful attention to, as its deterioration results in:
premature tyre and shock absorber wear,
a deterioration in road holding
and the damage of the part leading to a loss of wheel plane.
Points to check:
General appearance (corrosion, cracks, impact)
Condition of surrounding components: stiffness of silentbloc rubber, condition of ball joint and protective rubber, play in the components.
