The role of the driveshaft gaiter is to retain the grease necessary to lubricate the joints on each side of the universal joint, it is therefore a grease recipient that also plays the role of a seal. Made from rubber so that it bends with any deforming stress, it must remain watertight whatever happens. Over time, it loses its flexibility and cracks and tears appear. It then needs to be replaced as soon as possible as there is a risk of the central component braking.

Prevent the breakage of the central component by replacing the damaged component, this means a more costly repair.

The driveshaft gaiter prevents dust entering the steering. It is flexible and as it ages it loses its sealing.

• Gaiters and clips must maintain their sealing properties both at the inlet and outlet surface, within a temperature range of -40°C to + 110°C.
• The rubber material used is tested in order that it does not crack in extreme environments linked to its location: resistant to oil, fuel, external temperatures, gravel chips, etc.

These components protect ER4 classified components which means stringent specifications in order to prevent any physical risks.
