A brake hose is a reinforced multi-layer hose carrying pressurised brake fluid.

The couplings are made from steel treated for corrosion resistance.

• It must be possible to check brake hoses on a regular basis as any leak will result in a loss of brake fluid, thereby reducing braking efficiency.
• As soon as any cracking, blistering or leaks appear, the brake hoses must be replaced immediately as they are a crucial safety component.
• MOT: damaged brake hoses are subject to a follow-up inspection.
• They can be replaced as a preventive measure before the MOT.
